Background Theme for Shdw Wars

Ravnica "City" Background

I am making a background for photos I take to upload to the internet.

I plan on using paint.dot net and printing the background image on a piece of cardstock paper.

This background is meant to be the default background for my Ravnica Campaign. At the same time, I don't want the image to scream "fantasy" much more than "science fiction" so that I can reuse the images. I would like it to be distinct though. I.E unlike I a lot of the sales photos that are out there. What I have close by is my IPhone, so that is what I will be using for this blog and too keep my costs from going to high.

Perhaps if things go well we can talk about enlisting someone who knows their ways around the photography space better than I.

I have settled on BG that goes from a light gray to a blue then to dark shadow of mottled loose crystals. I think it is going to be great. I plan on that background becoming my signature of sorts.

Reboot: Ravnica in Miniatures

Reboot

Rekindling the blog once again. There is magic in the air (and I am not just talking about Christmas!).

I have been on the hunt for miniatures that will for the themes of the; guilds, guildless, creatures and terrain for Ravnica the MtG setting and now a new D&D campaign setting.

After buying some of the pre-painted minis that Wizkids makes and some cards, I have begun to purchase other minis and plan on painting them. I will (eventually) be posting some pics here.

I am also going to discuss how I plan on filling out different guilds with minis that are not on the limited list that is currently available for this setting.

This should be a neat new adventure, Especially the Rakdos and Simic.

Adventure well, and may your mug also be full of your preferred beverage.

Warmachine: Cryx: Blood Witches

Cryx: Blood Witches

The Blood Witches came as a set of 10, one of which is their leader.

Alanna asked that I paint their horns like "Homestuck Tolls". I am also going to add a new color to the pallette. Red. In this case it is called "Cherry Cobbler" there won't be much red, and it will be more of a wine color than a true blood red... here goes!

Warmachine: Cryx: The Slayer

The Slayer

Ok, The Slayer! Finally. This is the last (out of 5 models). This guy takes a lot of time to glue together. Whenever you sit down to paint, prior to getting to this figure, take 10 minutes and glue another piece on to him.  Let The Slayer sit on the sidelines of your painting area until he is ready to be primed then...

The Steps:
Assembly-This takes a bit. Don't try to do it all at once. Glue one thing at a time and let it set and cure between other projects...

Priming- Prime after putting it together.

This will make the model more difficult to paint, but the glue will hold better over time.

So that brings the painting of the Cryx battle group to a close...

Warmachine: Cryx: The Warcaster

The Warcaster

The Warcaster for the Cryx battlegroup is... Warwitch Deneghra.

Here is the Box, Bonejacks (Warjacks) and Deneghra with the Battlegroup box in the background.

Let's take a step back though. First there was glueing the Warwitch together. Notice I glued the "backblades" together and placed them next to Deneghra..

After that more coats for the backblades she needs her left arm attached and then the backblades. I want to twist her just enough so that it looks like she is peeking in between her backblades. Notice the unprimed slayer we will talk about him more in the next post...

The "Peekaboo of Death"

Here she is with the rest of the paint on her...

And in Glorious Glowing Colors!
Now that we have a magically glowing Warcster, It time to bust out the powerhouse warjack in the set...

Next: The Slayer....
